Crude oil prices in global market trading on Monday were influenced by the agreement of G7 countries to release 100 million barrels from emergency oil and diesel reserves. The futures price of Brent crude oil fell by 66 cents, or 0.65%, to $101.59 per barrel. Additionally, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil in the U.S. traded at $90.12 per barrel, down 95 cents or 1.03%.

Impact of G7 Agreement on Oil Market

This price drop occurred after G7 countries agreed on Friday to release 100 million barrels from their emergency reserves. This action came in response to pressures from former U.S. President Donald Trump to avoid restrictions on energy exports. Tim Waterer, a senior analyst at KCM Trade, stated that the G7's decision to utilize strategic reserves alleviates some supply concerns from prices.

Current State of the Oil Market and Geopolitical Tensions

Despite this drop, Brent oil prices remain above $100 per barrel. Analysts at ING Bank noted in a memo that ongoing geopolitical tensions and increased attacks on commercial vessels in the Persian Gulf have kept pressure on prices. Furthermore, the OPEC+ group has decided to postpone the review of member oil production quotas for 2027 due to disruptions caused by the imposed war against Iran and uncertainty in production capacity development projects in the Middle East.

OPEC+ also agreed in its Sunday meeting to maintain oil production targets for November, aligning with expectations of no further adjustments to the group's production policies until next year.

Meanwhile, Yemeni resistance forces have responded to 50 airstrikes by the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen, launching ballistic missiles and drones towards Aramco facilities in Riyadh and the Khurais area. These developments come as Saudi Arabia has not confirmed the news.
