The National Iranian South Oilfields Company is seriously pursuing its programs to reduce flared gas burning. Mohammad Mansouri, the production manager of this company, announced that the average flared gas burning in this company has decreased from about 27 million cubic meters per day in the year 1403 to 22 million and 200 thousand cubic meters.
Flared Gas Collection Projects
Mansouri also reported the completion of projects related to the Bidboland Gas Refining Company and added that with these projects, the amount of flared gas burning will be further reduced. He emphasized that achieving absolute zero in this regard is not technically and operationally possible.

This oil manager referred to an investment of 1 billion and 100 million dollars in the improvement and construction of flared gas collection facilities, stating that this plan includes 27 sub-projects in various operational areas. Currently, there are 269 flares in the operational range of the National Iranian South Oilfields Company, of which 112 are active.
Comprehensive Flared Gas Auction Plan
Mansouri also announced the implementation of a comprehensive flared gas auction plan, stating that in this plan, 39 work packages have been defined from Ahvaz to Bibi Hakimeh. Upon completion of these packages, a total of 504 million cubic feet of associated gases will be collected daily. So far, 6 work packages have been commissioned, collecting 78 million cubic feet of gas daily through them.
He also mentioned 17 other packages that are currently being executed, which will provide a daily collection capacity of 197 million cubic feet of gas upon completion. Additionally, 16 other work packages are in the contracting phase, which, when executed, will collect 190 million cubic feet of gas daily.
In conclusion, Mansouri referred to two long-term associated gas collection projects with investment from petrochemical companies. The flared gas collection project by Marun Petrochemical, aimed at collecting more than 5 million cubic meters of flared gases daily in the Ahvaz and Marun fields, has so far achieved 75% physical progress. It is expected that this project will be fully operational in the first half of the year 1407.
