Mostafa Nakhaei today (Monday, October 19) in the Economy Table program emphasized the necessity of diversifying the country's fuel basket, stating: Despite the considerable infrastructure for the development of CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) and the anticipated incentives and legal tools in the Seventh Development Plan, various reasons have prevented sufficient motivation for the use of this fuel.
Increase in CNG Consumption
Nakhaei added: The daily consumption of CNG, which was previously below the existing capacity, has significantly increased in the past two months due to the implementation of recent positive policies and the change in the free card rate at stations. This increase in consumption indicates the high potential of CNG as one of the clean energy sources in the country. However, the gap between the existing capacity and the current consumption is considerable, and planning is needed to maximize the use of the established infrastructure.

Legal Tools and Sustainable Development
A member of the Energy Commission of the Parliament stated that legal tools should be used to provide equipment and infrastructure for the development of CNG, saying: The sustainable development of this fuel, in addition to removing legal and executive barriers, requires serious attention to the economy of the stations and creating sufficient incentives for investment in this area. Specifically, there is a need for cooperation and coordination among various institutions for the development of infrastructure and increasing the number of CNG stations.
Nakhaei also emphasized: The optimal use of CNG production and distribution capacities not only helps reduce air pollution but can also have a positive impact on the country's economy. It should be noted that, given the global trend towards clean energy, Iran must also take steps in this direction and make the best use of domestic capacities.
In conclusion, he stressed that to achieve these goals, it is necessary for the government and the private sector to achieve closer cooperation and utilize successful global experiences in this field. By creating appropriate financial and legal incentives, sustainable development and diversification of the country's fuel basket can be achieved.
