Mohsen Paknejad, the Minister of Oil, reported on the measures taken to supply liquid fuel to power plants and to compensate for part of the lost gas production capacity during a meeting of the Energy Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly. He pointed out the impacts of the imposed war and the exit of four gas refineries from operation at the end of last year, stating that this situation has reduced gas processing capacity by about 230 million cubic meters.

Recovery of Gas Production Capacity

Paknejad emphasized that, with the continuous efforts of his colleagues in the oil industry, nearly 100 million cubic meters of this production decrease has been compensated. However, he acknowledged that a shortfall of more than 120 million cubic meters still persists, and this figure adds to this year's gas imbalance. This situation requires the formulation and implementation of precise and specific management mechanisms.

Planning for Fuel Supply to Power Plants

The Minister of Oil, referring to his previous interactions with the Energy Commission, announced the preparation of a gas allocation and delivery schedule. This schedule clarifies the obligations of the Ministry of Oil, especially in the delivery of gas to power plants, which are recognized as the main pillar of the country's electricity supply. Paknejad also mentioned strategic actions for managing winter fuel and stated that one of the most important measures is to increase the reserves of liquid fuel for power plants.

According to him, with the increase in the storage of fuel oil and diesel in the industrial sector, necessary arrangements have been made so that during peak cold periods, when gas consumption in the residential and commercial sectors increases, the gas shortfall delivered to power plants and industries can be replaced with liquid fuel. These actions are aimed at preventing disruptions in service delivery and meeting the country's energy needs.
