Mohsen Paknejad, Iran's Minister of Oil, discussed solutions to accelerate economic cooperation between the two countries in a webinar with Sergey Tisilyov, Russia's Minister of Energy, this morning (Tuesday, October 7). This discussion took place within the framework of the joint commission on economic cooperation between Iran and Russia and was conducted via video conference.

Review of Obstacles and Previous Achievements

In this meeting, the topics of interest that had previously been defined in the joint commission on economic cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation were reviewed again. Paknejad pointed out the review of achievements and decisions made in this commission, stating that both sides presented solutions for existing obstacles to achieve better results in the shortest possible time.

The Importance of the Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation

The joint commission on economic cooperation between Iran and Russia holds special significance as one of the main mechanisms for pursuing and developing cooperation between the two countries in various economic fields. This commission addresses topics related to energy, investment, trade, and the implementation of joint projects. In the nineteenth joint commission, which is scheduled to be held in February 2025 at the National Iranian Oil Company (Koushk) International Conference Center, topics such as completing the North-South international corridor, gas transfer from Russia to Iran, and developing cooperation in various fields such as space industries, nuclear energy, trade, and agriculture will be discussed.

The results of these negotiations will be formulated in the form of a joint commission document and signed by the ministers of the two countries. In the previous meeting held in July this year in Tehran, Paknejad and Tisilyov evaluated the implementation process of the agreements reached in the nineteenth commission meeting and reviewed the obstacles in the way of implementing these agreements. The agreements, which include 146 clauses agreed upon by both countries, can help develop joint cooperation in various fields.
