Mohsen Malayi, an economic expert and production activist, analyzed Iran's position in the global economy and the challenges facing the country's industry in a report. He stated that countries in the present era cannot solely rely on the sale of raw materials or domestic production, emphasizing the importance of participating in international production chains.

Challenges of Iran's Industry in Global Markets

Malayi pointed out that Iran's industry has diverse capacities in various sectors including mining, metallurgy, petrochemicals, automotive, and food industries, but stated that these capacities alone are not sufficient. He added: "The main difference between a domestic producer and a global player lies in quality, competitive ability, technology, and cost price."

He also referred to the fundamental challenges of Iran's industry, which include the gap between nominal production capacity and actual competitive ability in international markets. Malayi emphasized: "Many enterprises lose their ability to invest and achieve sustainable development due to daily problems such as financing issues, cost fluctuations, and regulatory instability."

The Necessity of Investment and Technology Development

Malayi continued: "To enter global value chains, Iran needs long-term investments in product development, research and development, and infrastructure improvement." He also stressed the need to increase quality and competitiveness in foreign markets, adding: "Occasional exports cannot replace regular and continuous presence in global markets."

Mohsen Malayi, referring to the successful experiences of industrial countries like China, said: "Infrastructure development, attracting investment and technology, and expanding exports play a significant role in transforming a country into a key player in the global industry." He noted that Iran must move towards competitive, technology-driven, and export-oriented production to leverage its geographical advantages.

In conclusion, Malayi emphasized the necessity of formulating a comprehensive industrial strategy that addresses key questions regarding production advantages, required technologies, and target markets. He stated: "Without answers to these questions, industrial development may lead to an increase in production capacity without achieving competitiveness."
