This order has been issued to better manage fuel consumption and reduce urban traffic, providing solutions for minimizing the commuting of employees and managers of government agencies.
Planning for Car-Free Day
The announcement specifies that all executive agencies must adopt appropriate measures to plan for a designated day each week as a car-free day, during which employees and managers should use public transportation such as buses and subways to commute to work. This initiative is designed to reduce traffic and air pollution.
Managers are required to use incentive and educational mechanisms to promote a culture of conservation and the use of public transportation. These measures may include providing facilities, financial rewards, and creating motivation for employees to use personal vehicles less.
Remote Work and Scrapping Old Vehicles
The announcement also emphasizes the use of the remote work regulation. Executive agencies must make the necessary arrangements for remote work for employees who can perform their duties remotely, as well as for employees residing in cities surrounding the workplace. This can help reduce traffic and conserve fuel consumption.
Furthermore, executive agencies are obligated to take the necessary actions as soon as possible to scrap old vehicles according to the executive regulation of Article 10 of the Car Industry Organization Law. They are also advised to use electric, gas-powered, or hybrid vehicles for replacing scrapped vehicles. These actions are designed to reduce air pollution and protect the environment.
Collaboration with Municipalities
In this regard, the Tehran municipality and other metropolitan areas are also required to cooperate in planning and facilitating the use of public transportation by employees of executive agencies. This collaboration may include developing public transportation infrastructure and improving bus and subway services.
