Major General Rahim Safavi, senior advisor to the Commander-in-Chief, in remarks regarding the Strait of Hormuz, introduced this strategic waterway as an inseparable part of Iranian territory and emphasized the need for intelligent management of it against foreign threats, especially the American maritime blockade.
The Importance of the Strait of Hormuz in National Security
The Strait of Hormuz, with a width of about 39 kilometers, is considered one of the most important and busiest waterways in the world. This strait serves as the main entry point to the Persian Gulf and plays a key role in the transportation of oil and gas from the southern Gulf countries to global markets. On average, about 20 million barrels of oil pass through this waterway daily, which is equivalent to one-third of the world's total oil.

Existing Challenges and Future Strategies
Given the current geopolitical situation, the Strait of Hormuz is considered a sensitive point in global energy policies. In recent years, tensions in this region have increased due to economic and military sanctions. Major General Rahim Safavi, referring to these tensions, emphasized that Iran must strengthen diplomacy and international cooperation in this area to prevent its interests from being jeopardized.
He also stressed the need to enhance Iran's maritime and aerial capabilities to counter potential threats and said: "We must adjust our strategies in such a way that we defend not only the Strait of Hormuz but all of our territorial waters." These statements reflect the firm determination of the Islamic Republic of Iran to maintain security and national interests against foreign threats.
