Kermanshah, through the implementation of three petrochemical projects, the construction of a 240-hectare logistics village, and plans to increase its share of Iran's exports to Iraq, aims to strengthen its position in the economy of western Iran.
Development and Logistics Projects
Manouchehr Habibi, the governor of Kermanshah, announced plans for the construction of the western logistics village on a 240-hectare site. This project, alongside the development of petrochemicals, the completion of the railway route to the Khosravi border, and increasing the province's share of Iran's exports to Iraq, can enhance Kermanshah's position in the economy of western Iran.

Kermanshah, with a 371-kilometer shared border with Iraq and six official borders and border markets, is considered one of the important provinces in the country for trade with Iraq. Currently, about 40 percent of Iran's exports to Iraq are conducted through Kermanshah, and the province aims to increase this share to around 50 to 60 percent.
Petrochemical Projects and Energy Capacities
The governor of Kermanshah also reported on the pursuit of establishing the "Western Logistics Village" in the province. The site selection for this project has been carried out in collaboration with the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways, and a 240-hectare area has been designated for its implementation. Comprehensive studies for this project have begun and are expected to be completed within the next month.
Currently, three petrochemical complexes are operational in the province, and three other petrochemical projects are at various stages of implementation. The Islamabad West Petrochemical has reached a physical progress of 65 percent, while the Sanqur Petrochemical has reported about 60 percent progress. Additionally, the second phase of the Kermanshah Petrochemical is nearing completion with a physical progress of 88 percent.
Completing these three projects can increase the petrochemical industry's capacity in the province and, alongside border and logistical infrastructures, strengthen Kermanshah's role in the production and trade chain of petrochemical products in western Iran. The development of solar power plants and the establishment of self-sufficient power plants for industries are also on the agenda.
Completing the Kermanshah-Khosravi-Baghdad railway route is another project that can enhance Kermanshah's transit position. During the recent visit of the Iraqi Prime Minister to Iran, emphasis was placed on accelerating the implementation of this project.
