Specifically, the number of active oil drilling rigs in the United States rose by 2 rigs to 452 rigs, which is 34 rigs more than at the same time last year. Additionally, the number of active gas drilling rigs also increased by 2 rigs to 134 rigs, which is 16 rigs more than last year. The miscellaneous rigs remained unchanged at 9 rigs during this period.
Crude Oil Production and Market Prices
According to recent data, U.S. crude oil production reached 13.944 million barrels per day in the week ending September 11, slightly down from 13.947 million barrels the previous week, but showing an increase of 462,000 barrels compared to last year. These changes in crude oil production are particularly noteworthy as oil prices are also fluctuating.
On Friday, oil prices fell due to the release of this data, with Brent crude oil prices reaching $103.60 per barrel, a decrease of nearly $1.30 from last week. Additionally, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil prices also dropped to $100.67 per barrel.
