Hassan Hassan-Taj, the representative of Babol in the Islamic Consultative Assembly, referred to Hamid Bord's appointment as the acting Minister of Oil and stated that he must pay special attention to key issues in the oil industry. These issues include increasing and maintaining production, developing oil fields, ensuring energy supply, managing gas and petroleum product imbalances, and utilizing the capacities of the private sector and knowledge-based companies.
Maintaining Production and Ensuring Energy Supply as a Priority
Hassan-Taj emphasized that maintaining production and ensuring energy supply, especially for the winter season, should be the top priority of the acting Minister of Oil. Emphasis on Public Demand Projects
He also stressed the need to resolve projects that have been raised as public demands for years, adding that these projects should be examined based on the real needs of the regions and with a fair approach. Hassan-Taj noted that the Ministry of Oil can become the primary customer for domestic technologies through appropriate policymaking and creating real demand.
Hassan-Taj, referring to the capacities of universities, research institutes, and technology and innovation parks in the oil industry, stated that these entities can contribute to the development of a knowledge-based economy. Attracting domestic and foreign investment for the development of oil and gas fields and infrastructures was also among the other points he emphasized. He stated: "Activating the capacities of investment companies and the private sector is a prerequisite for securing sustainable resources for the development of the oil industry."
Expectations of the Parliament from the Acting Minister of Oil
Hassan-Taj further noted that the Parliament's expectation from the acting Minister of Oil is not merely to manage ongoing affairs, adding: "Existing activities must be maintained, developmental projects must remain unaffected by halts, and the priorities and main issues of the oil industry must be clearly defined." These statements indicate that the members of Parliament are seeking a serious transformation in the country's oil industry and emphasize the necessity of focusing on projects and investments.
