GT Wings has unveiled the latest addition to its wind power product line, the AirWing™S, which is a lightweight and compact jet sail. This new design has been developed to meet the operational needs of small commercial vessels and helps expand the AirWing™ product line.
Development of Wind Power Technology for Small Vessels
The AirWing™S is designed with a lightweight and optimized configuration that is particularly suitable for small vessels. This model is built to consider the limitations of vessel size, available deck space, and weight considerations. This innovation represents the next step for GT Wings in its strategy to develop a scalable family of AirWing™ jet sails that allows for the adaptation of technology to the diverse needs of the global commercial fleet.
Strategic Collaboration with Zunsion Technology
This unveiling comes as GT Wings has held an Open House event, showcasing the first custom AirWing™ units currently in production. These units are nearing completion at Zunsion Technology's manufacturing facilities in Nantong. GT Wings began a strategic collaboration with Zunsion Technology in March 2026 to produce scalable AirWing™ systems in China. This collaboration combines GT Wings' expertise in wind power and systems integration with Zunsion's manufacturing and assembly capabilities.
Development of AirWing™ Products and International Impact
The unveiling of the AirWing™S alongside the first commercial AirWing™20 units signifies GT Wings' continued development within the AirWing™ product family. The company aims to meet a broader range of vessel types and operational requirements. Xu Jinbiao, CEO of Zunsion Technology, added, "We are very pleased to welcome GT Wings and its guests to Nantong and showcase the advancements made. The AirWing™ units being formed at our facilities represent the achievements of our collaboration, and we hope to continue this partnership with GT Wings."
This event also featured a keynote speech by Ms. Marie Langridge, Business Advisor for Technology and Industry at the UK Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade. In her speech, she highlighted the value of international collaborations in marine innovation, stating that these partnerships enable the UK to compete globally and contribute to carbon reduction in the maritime sector.
The gathering included representatives from China, France, Hong Kong, Japan, Norway, and the UK, providing an opportunity to discuss the role of advanced manufacturing and marine technology in supporting the transition to low-carbon operations. Guests toured the factory floor and observed two AirWing™20 units under construction, receiving direct updates from the GT Wings team about ongoing developments in jet sail technology.
George Thompson, CEO of GT Wings, summarized: "Bringing together customers, manufacturing partners, and representatives from around the world makes this moment very significant for GT Wings. The AirWing™20 units being formed in Nantong represent our transition from technology development to repeatable commercial production while continuing to develop the AirWing™ product family to ensure wind power can provide benefits across various vessel types and operational requirements."
