Fatemeh Mohajerani, the government spokesperson, addressed the gas supply situation for the winter season in a press conference yesterday and reported a gas imbalance for the years 1403 and 1404. She announced this year's shortfall as 230 million cubic meters, which is due to military attacks on the country. Mohajerani also stated that of this amount, 100 million cubic meters has returned to the production cycle.

Possibility of energy shortages in northern provinces

The government spokesperson considered the likelihood of gas shortages in northern provinces to be higher than in other provinces and emphasized that necessary warnings have been communicated to the governors of these provinces. She also mentioned that measures have been taken to prevent problems for the people, and it is expected that with the cooperation of the public and temperature regulation in boiler rooms and heaters, we will pass the winter with minimal outages.

Production of Phase 11 of South Pars

In this regard, Touraj Dehghani, CEO of South Pars Oil and Gas Company, announced that the production of Phase 11 of the shared South Pars field has reached one billion cubic feet per day. With the completion and commissioning of the twelfth well SPD11B, the gas production capacity from this field will reach approximately 28 million cubic meters per day.

The government is examining various scenarios for managing gas consumption in residential, commercial, public, industrial, agricultural, transportation, and power generation sectors. In a meeting of the Supreme Energy Council chaired by Mohammad Reza Aref, the consumption share of each of these sectors was approved. Aref emphasized the need for macro management of energy consumption and urged ministers to cooperate in maintaining the stability of the energy network.

Gas imbalance and economic challenges

Hashem Oraki, a senior energy expert, in analyzing the gas imbalance situation, pointed to structural problems in production and consumption. He stated that the gas imbalance is not a new issue and has existed for years. He also warned that the continuation of this trend could lead to a combined imbalance of gas and electricity.

Oraki emphasized that the reduction of gas supply to industries is not just an energy problem, but directly affects production and economic growth and may lead to an economic recession. He also referred to the situation in northern provinces and said that these areas are at greater risk due to their geographical location and the structure of the transmission network.
