Emerson has introduced a new magnetic flow sensor called Rosemount 8795, designed to provide accurate flow measurement and monitoring for chilled water and water-glycol cooling systems in data centers.
Applications and Features of the Sensor
This sensor is designed to improve the reliability and efficiency of cooling systems in response to the growing demand for digital and computational infrastructure. The Rosemount 8795 sensor integrates with existing magnetic flow transmitters in the Rosemount family, making installation, commissioning, and continuous monitoring of the system easier.

This sensor supports Emerson's Short Run Installation software, enabling flow measurement in space-constrained installations. When combined with compatible transmitters, this sensor can provide an accuracy of 0.5 percent under specified conditions without the need for straight upstream piping.
Technical Specifications and Performance
For installations with sufficient straight pipe lengths, the sensor offers an accuracy of ± 2 millimeters per second at 0.2 percent. It also has a repeatability capability of 0.1 percent and can support pipe sizes ranging from 2 to 18 inches.
The Rosemount 8795 sensor features diagnostic and internal verification capabilities through compatible Rosemount transmitters, allowing operators to monitor the performance of the cooling system and identify potential measurement issues. Flow data can also be integrated into building management systems and data center infrastructure management platforms to assist in monitoring water and energy efficiency.
This sensor is designed for chiller applications and features a polytetrafluoroethylene coating and stainless steel electrodes. Other capabilities include Modbus communication, dual 4–20 mA outputs, and support for AC or DC power.
The introduction of the Rosemount 8795 sensor contributes to the expansion of Emerson's magnetic flow measurement product portfolio and is specifically configured for data center cooling applications.
