The discovery of 1,173 cases of gas theft and unauthorized use in West Azerbaijan is a topic addressed by Jamshid Dorostkar, the CEO of the provincial gas company. These thefts seriously affect the national economy, and according to reports, the amount of gas consumed in these cases is close to one million and 500 thousand cubic meters.

Economic Consequences of Gas Theft

As a result of these violations, fines amounting to about 170 billion rials have been issued to the offenders. Dorostkar stated that these fines will serve as a deterrent and help reduce such thefts. Gas thieves will be referred to judicial authorities after identification, and unauthorized users will also be subject to fines.

Legal and Social Measures

The CEO of the West Azerbaijan Gas Company continued that after receiving legal fines, if conditions permit, legal subscriptions will be granted to these individuals. This action signifies attention to employment and providing services to those who may have unauthorized access to gas. Dorostkar emphasized the importance of preserving natural gas as a national asset and stated: "We consider it our duty to protect this national asset and prevent its waste, and any unauthorized use of this national blessing will face legal action."

In line with these measures, municipalities and local institutions can also assist in identifying and preventing gas thefts in cooperation with the gas company. Dorostkar urged citizens to report any unauthorized use of gas through the 194 hotline and the 1594 voice phone to the company. This action can help reduce thefts and preserve this valuable resource.
