Valencia Port Authority (APV) is continuously advancing the RENMARINAS project, which aims to promote the integration of renewable technologies in the marine-port environment by connecting new energy production sources to the existing electricity networks in Valencia and Sagunto ports.

Details of the RENMARINAS Project

In this framework, APV has entrusted the management of construction and health and safety coordination of the project. This project includes the design, supply, and installation of an electrical energy discharge system from a floating solar power plant to the existing medium voltage network in Valencia Port. Additionally, an electrical energy discharge system from a wave power plant is also being installed, which utilizes the movement of sea waves to generate electricity, and this energy will be fed into the medium voltage network of Sagunto Port.

Renewable Technologies and Their Goals

This initiative is part of the RENMARINAS project, which promotes the development of energy solutions related to the marine environment and the use of innovative renewable technologies in port areas. This project is supported by the European Union's Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience program and is financed in collaboration with the Institute for Diversification and Saving of Energy (IDAE).

This initiative includes promoting technologies related to offshore wind energy, wave energy, tidal energy, and other renewable solutions that contribute to the research, demonstration, and implementation of new energy models related to the port sector.

APPLUS NORCONTROL S.L.U. is responsible for the contract related to this project, which includes two distinct actions. On one hand, the management of construction and health and safety coordination of the electrical energy discharge system from a floating solar power plant installed in Valencia Port to the existing medium voltage network, and on the other hand, the action related to Sagunto Port, which involves the installation of the energy discharge system from wave facilities to the medium voltage network of the port.

The contract for the floating solar power plant in Valencia Port has a base bid budget of €97,484.42 (including VAT), while the amount related to the wave power plant action in Sagunto Port is €94,860.22 (including VAT). Both services are expected to be executed within a period of 13 months.

With this initiative, Valencia Port Authority continues to promote energy transition and innovation projects in the port environment, moving towards a more efficient and sustainable model by integrating new renewable solutions.
