Subsea7 has received an extension contract from the Turkish Petroleum Technology Center (TP-OTC) for the development of Phase 3 of the Sakarya gas field in the Black Sea, Turkey. This contract is classified as a "significant" contract and is estimated to be worth between 50 to 150 million dollars.

Contract Details and Activities

The additional scope of this contract includes the installation and connection of towing and anchoring lines related to the commissioning of the Floating Production Unit (FPU), which is scheduled to be operational by 2028. These activities will be carried out to ensure the optimal performance of the Sakarya gas field.

Project Management and Engineering

The project management and engineering of this development will be conducted from Subsea7's office in Istanbul, and work will commence immediately. This extension expands Subsea7's current scope in Phase 3 of the Sakarya field and helps Turkey accelerate the development of the Black Sea gas field.

Phase 3 of the Sakarya field is considered one of the key projects in Turkey's energy sector and, given its high natural gas production capacity, it could have a significant impact on the country's energy supply. In light of global efforts to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and improve energy efficiency, the development of this field is introduced as an important step towards achieving Turkey's sustainable energy goals.
