The Tide Breaker initiative has entered its second phase aimed at developing and implementing artificial intelligence and digital solutions in underwater operations. This phase began during the first industrial event of the Blue Digital Ecosystem in Aberdeen, which brought together operators, contractors, technology companies, and industrial organizations to address common underwater challenges.
Focus on Underwater Challenges and Digital Innovation
During this event, discussions included the implementation of artificial intelligence at depth, integration of underwater assets, digital ecosystem architecture, and the use of digitization to improve sustainability. Companies such as Aker BP, Aker Solutions, bp, Chevron, DeepOcean, Wood, and Offshore Energies UK (OEUK) participated in this gathering.
The Tide Breaker initiative enables technology startups to access real data from underwater operations, industry expertise, and operator feedback to develop and improve artificial intelligence-based solutions for underwater operations. Operators can help define technical challenges and evaluate technologies for potential implementation in the fields.
Supporting Innovation and Industrial Collaborations
This initiative, endorsed by OEUK, is supported by Elementz, and the strategic consulting group Compass also assists it. Operator members of this group provide advice to participants and assess potential applications. The Data Lab, Scotland's data and artificial intelligence innovation center, also provides necessary guidance.
The next phase of this initiative will be developed based on the initial Tide Breaker program, which selected Voltquant and Fathom as successful applicants. More details about this phase will be announced in the coming weeks.
Neil Gordon, CEO of Global Underwater Hub, said: “With the transformation of artificial intelligence and digitization in our industry, our future success depends on how effectively we share knowledge, embrace change, and work together.”
Jason Brown, CEO of Elementz, stated that this initiative is designed to bring together operators, technology developers, and other underwater participants to address asset integrity challenges and develop technologies based on the real needs of the industry.
