Saudi Arabia, one of the largest producers and consumers of oil in the world, has taken a serious step towards the electric vehicle industry by introducing two fully electric Exobot (Exobot) cars. This Saudi automaker, established in 2022 under the brand “Ceer,” recognizes the Exobot as its first products. In addition to these two models, five more models will soon be added to Ceer's product lineup.
Investment and Establishment of Ceer
Ceer, as the first national automaker and electric vehicle brand of Saudi Arabia, is the result of a joint investment between Foxconn, the Taiwanese electronics manufacturing giant, and the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia (PIF). This fund, which manages over $900 billion in assets, also holds significant stakes in reputable companies such as Aston Martin and Lucid. The Exobots are designed and engineered in Saudi Arabia, and their production process will also take place in the country, clearly demonstrating Saudi Arabia's serious commitment to becoming a key player in the global automotive industry.

Technology and Design of Electric Vehicles
The development of Exobots is not entirely independent of foreign technologies. Ceer utilizes technology licensed from BMW, and the architecture of its electric vehicles has been developed by Foxconn. This company, which has significant experience in the electric vehicle sector through its brand, Foxtron, plays an important role in the production of these vehicles. Additionally, the powertrains of Ceer's flagship products will be supplied by Rimac, the Croatian manufacturer of supercars and hypercars. These collaborations enable Ceer to leverage top global technologies for electric vehicle production.
The design of Ceer's products has been carried out by Rob Melvin, the former head of design at McLaren. This renowned designer has a portfolio that includes projects such as the P1, 750S, Speedtail, and Senna. Ceer has stated that the design of the Exobots is inspired by Saudi Arabia's natural landscapes, cultural roots, and future vision.
Given Saudi Arabia's long-term plans for developing the automotive industry and its efforts to reduce dependence on oil, entering the electric vehicle market can be seen as a key strategy for creating economic diversity and increasing the country's share in the global automotive market. It is expected that with the successful development of these vehicles, Ceer will become one of the main players in the electric vehicle industry and play a significant role in changing energy consumption patterns in Saudi Arabia.
