The South Azadegan Oil Processing Center (CTEP), as the largest central processing unit in the country, is one of the strategic infrastructures of the National Iranian Oil Company in the West Karun fields. This center has been designed and implemented to create sustainable capacity for processing, transferring, and stabilizing crude oil from the South Azadegan field and other neighboring fields.
CTEP's Key Role in the Development of West Karun
CTEP serves as the connecting link between the production and development phases of West Karun, playing a crucial role in achieving sustainable and responsible oil production from shared fields. This project is considered the main artery for processing and transferring oil in this region. The importance of this center goes beyond the South Azadegan field and also provides a foundation for increasing production from other fields in the area.

Now, with the completion and commissioning of four oil trains at the South Azadegan Oil Processing Center, the nominal processing capacity has reached 320,000 barrels of oil per day. This capacity has been achieved by the executive arm of the National Iranian Oil Company in the fourteenth government, with the cooperation and support of the project employer and contractors.
Details of Oil Train Commissioning
The third oil train of this center was commissioned on March 19, 2025, and reached stable production on May 13, 2025. The fourth train was also commissioned on December 20, 2025, and reached stable production on December 25. The construction phases of the first and second trains began in February 2026 and continued under the conditions of imposed war. The pre-commissioning and commissioning activities of these trains have also begun with the capability to receive oil for processing.
Finally, with the approval of a four-day production halt, the integration of control and safety systems of the first and second processing trains with the third and fourth trains was completed, and with the permission to allow oil into the first and second trains, the processing capacity of 320,000 barrels of oil per day was achieved on October 11, 2026.
Hamid Reza Taghafi, CEO of Petropars Group, stated about the latest status of this project that the overall progress of the plan has surpassed 80 percent. In the gas sector, with the completion of the relevant units, the possibility of sending 200 million standard cubic feet of associated gas daily to NGL 3200 will be provided. This 320,000-barrel oil processing capacity at this center is the result of the efforts of project specialists and staff, along with the cooperation and support of the employer and contractors.
