The capacity of Iran's largest oil processing center in the shared South Azadegan field has reached 320,000 barrels per day. Petropars Group, as the executive arm of the National Iranian Oil Company, completed and launched four oil processing trains at the South Azadegan Oil Processing Center (CTEP) in collaboration with the project employer and contractors, thereby achieving a nominal processing capacity of 320,000 barrels of oil per day at this center.
Completion and Launch of Oil Trains
Hamidreza Saghafi, CEO of Petropars Group, referred to the specifications of this center and said: This unit, with four oil processing trains and a capacity of 320,000 barrels of oil per day, is Iran's largest oil processing center. The third train was launched on March 19, 2025, and reached stable production on May 13, 2025. The fourth train was also launched on December 21, 2025, and reached stable production on January 24, 2026.
Key Role in the Development of West Karun
Saghafi explained the process of completing and launching the oil trains at this center: The completion of the construction phases of the first and second trains of this processing center began in February 2026 and continued under wartime conditions. Additionally, the pre-commissioning and commissioning activities for these trains began with the capability to receive oil for processing. Ultimately, with the approval of a four-day production halt, the control and safety systems of the first and second trains were integrated with the third and fourth trains, and after receiving permission for oil entry into the first and second trains, on October 11, 2026, the processing capacity of this center reached 320,000 barrels of oil.
The CEO of Petropars Group pointed out the importance of this center in the development of West Karun, stating: This unit is one of the key infrastructures for the development of West Karun and can play an important role in the transfer, processing, and stabilization of oil in this region, also paving the way for increased production from other fields in West Karun.
Saghafi discussed the latest status of the project, saying: The overall progress of the project has exceeded 80 percent. In the gas sector, with the completion of the relevant units, the possibility of sending 200 million standard cubic feet of associated gas daily to NGL3200 is provided. He concluded by emphasizing: The realization of the 320,000 barrel processing capacity of oil at this center is the result of the efforts of specialists and project staff and the cooperation and collaboration of the employer and contractors.
