Cheniere Energy, Inc. completed the Corpus Christi Liquefaction Stage 3 Project in Texas on August 28, 2026, and took control of the final liquefied natural gas (LNG) unit in this project.
Project Details
The Corpus Christi Liquefaction Stage 3 Project, which began producing LNG in December 2024, is part of the larger Corpus Christi liquefied natural gas facilities in San Patricio County, Texas. With the addition of this capacity, the total capacity of the facilities increased to 3.1 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) and the maximum capacity to 3.9 Bcf/d. With this development, the Corpus Christi facilities became the second largest liquefied natural gas facility in the United States, after the Sabine Pass facility in Louisiana, which has a nominal capacity of 3.6 Bcf/d and a maximum capacity of 4.6 Bcf/d.

Production Trends and Future Projects
This project includes seven mid-scale liquefaction units with a total capacity of 1.3 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) and a maximum capacity of 1.5 Bcf/d. The production of these facilities has gradually increased as each of the six previous units in this project has been completed and brought into production.
Additionally, a project called Corpus Christi Mid-Scale Liquefaction is also under construction. This project, alongside the existing facilities, includes two additional units that will add 0.4 Bcf/d to the nominal capacity (0.5 Bcf/d maximum) and is expected to be operational by 2028.
These developments not only increase the liquefied natural gas production capacity of the United States but also help strengthen the country's position in the global liquefied natural gas market.
