Behnam Lazemi today (Wednesday, October 7) at the closing ceremony of the seventh assessment of the operational readiness of firefighters at the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company, held at the Imam Khomeini (RA) Refinery in Shazand, referred to the importance and value of the heroic firefighters in the oil industry. He stated: These forces have gathered not to earn ranks, but to assess their readiness, and they deserve special respect.
The Need for Drills and Assessment Courses
Lazemi emphasized the necessity of conducting drills and various courses to assess firefighters and added: The seventh assessment was held with the aim of maintaining and enhancing the capabilities of firefighters. In real operations, there is no possibility of repetition, and the decision-making time is very short; therefore, the smallest mistake can have irreparable consequences for an operational unit or complex.

The Main Asset of Firefighting is Capable People
The Director of Health, Safety, Environment, and Non-Military Defense at the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company continued: The past three days were an opportunity to practice readiness for the day of the incident. Beyond the results of the competitions, order, discipline, team spirit, quick action, and accountability of the participants are of high importance. Lazemi also emphasized that operational readiness is not solely achieved by purchasing safety equipment, and our main asset in firefighting is capable, trained individuals, continuous practice, and effective leadership.
He stated: This event showed that this valuable asset exists in the subsidiary companies. We expect the results of this period to not remain merely in the form of a ranking table, and these results should be used precisely for training, refining procedures, designing practical exercises, and enhancing readiness and future planning.
Senior Management Calls for a Religious and Scientific Spirit in Firefighting
Lazemi stated that professional firefighters are those who combine courage with knowledge, quick action with precision, and power with order and discipline, saying: Senior management calls for a religious, scientific, and operational spirit within the firefighting body. This approach can help improve the performance and readiness of firefighters and ensure that they provide the best services in critical situations.
