Baltic Exchange attended the Xinde Marine Forum recently held in London. At this event, Jos Standerwick, Head of Membership at Baltic Exchange, moderated the opening panel titled "Resilience and Collaboration in the Maritime Value Chain."
Emphasis on Collaboration in the Maritime Value Chain
This panel brought together representatives from across the maritime value chain to discuss how cargo interests, shipowners, operators, insurers, data providers, and industry associations can strengthen their collaboration in a changing global environment. Topics discussed included changes in trade flows, political developments, geopolitical uncertainties, and the need to build greater resilience in global supply chains.

Panelists emphasized the need for stronger collaboration in the value chain and pointed out areas that require improvement. These included data exchange, policy stability, identifying emerging risks through insurance, and finding ways to share costs associated with carbon reduction.
Aligning Policy Goals with Business Realities
Discussions also highlighted the importance of ensuring that policy goals align with the industry's ability to finance investments, shipbuilding capacity, and the business realities faced by companies in the maritime value chain. This alignment can help create a more sustainable and efficient business environment.
Baltic Exchange is proud to have been part of this important dialogue and looks forward to continuing engagement with Xinde Marine and the maritime industry to help address current challenges in shipping.
