Alireza Mahdavi has been appointed as the CEO of Bushehr Petrochemical Company. This appointment follows a decree issued by Afshar Baziyar, the CEO of Shastan Commercial Investment Company, and Mahdavi replaces Abdollah Abadi, who previously oversaw this petrochemical complex.

Alireza Mahdavi is an experienced manager in the petrochemical industry, with a significant portion of his professional background related to Shastan Commercial Investment Company and its subsidiaries. Over the past years, he has served as the chairman of the board of Bushehr Petrochemical and also as the acting CEO of this complex. Mahdavi was appointed as the acting head of Bushehr Petrochemical in July 2022 and has since expanded his activities in this field.
Bushehr Petrochemical and Its Capacities
Bushehr Petrochemical Company is one of the largest complexes located in the second phase of the Pars Special Economic Energy Zone in Assaluyeh. This complex was established with the aim of completing the value chain in upstream and downstream petrochemical industries, with investment from Shastan Holding. The first phase of this petrochemical facility has been commissioned with gas sweetening units, ethane recovery, and methanol production, and its production capacity is estimated to exceed four million tons per year.
Bushehr Petrochemical, as one of the key suppliers in the region, produces and supplies products such as methanol, sulfur, ethylene, and gas fractions. In addition to maintaining production stability in the first phase, the implementation of the second phase of Bushehr Petrochemical is one of Mahdavi's main managerial missions. This development phase includes units for producing olefins, ethylene glycol, and polyethylene, and is planned to be launched in 2025.
The operation of the second phase projects of Bushehr Petrochemical will play a significant role in the production of polymer products and increasing the country's foreign exchange earnings. The current focus of the management of this complex is on maintaining production stability in the methanol units and accelerating the construction and operation of the second phase projects.
