UAE oil production in September reached a record 5.3 million barrels per day (bpd). This increase in production, especially amid the war with Iran and the lifting of OPEC+ restrictions, showcases the resilience of this country against challenges.
Oil Production Details
According to the International Energy Agency, the UAE has managed to increase total oil production, including condensates, by 400,000 barrels per day. As a result, crude oil production has approached over 4.4 million barrels per day, nearing its maximum capacity.

This increase in production has surpassed previous records set in August for total oil production and in June for crude oil. The UAE, as one of the most successful regional producers, has managed to restore oil flow through the Strait of Hormuz to normal and has discreetly passed shipments through this point using its fleet of oil tankers.
Implications of Leaving OPEC
The UAE's decision to exit the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) since May has freed the country from the production limits of this group. This has led to increased production and reduced grievances from previous years. This increase in production has helped improve oil flow in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, which reached over 75% of pre-war levels in September, led by Saudi Arabia.
However, it remains uncertain whether this improvement will hold against new Iranian attacks on tankers and the escalating tensions arising from the activities of the Houthi group in Yemen.
Decline in Oil Reserves
According to the International Energy Agency, the UAE has unprecedentedly reduced its visible reserves by over 270,000 barrels per day in September. This reduction has reached a historic low and reflects strong demand for the country's oil.
Overall, the increase in oil production in the UAE has not only contributed to improving the economic situation of the country but has also had significant positive impacts at the regional level.
