Thordon Bearings has opened a new manufacturing plant at 3180 Mainway, Burlington. This move is part of the company's strategy to respond to the significant growth in demand across all business sectors and the increasing need for sustainable bearings and seals.

Details of the New Plant

This third plant provides substantial additional space for the production of complementary non-bearing equipment and will help improve production output, reduce lead times, and develop future products. The main focus of this manufacturing unit is on producing TG100 mechanical seals with water lubrication and water quality packs for marine markets and hydropower plants.

Official Opening and Attendance of Officials

The opening of the new plant was marked by an official ceremony and ribbon-cutting by Anna Galoni, President and CEO of Thordon Bearings, along with several government officials including Karina Gould, Member of Parliament for Canada, and Natalie Pierre, Member of Provincial Parliament for Ontario. Anna Galoni stated at the event: "Alongside our commitments to innovation and quality, we continue to invest in growth. Creating additional manufacturing space allows Thordon and its sister company, Marsh Brothers Aviation, to optimize layouts for assembly, machining, and office spaces, thereby increasing efficiency and productivity."

Impact on Workforce and Production Capacity

This new plant provides additional space for operations and frees up existing capacity at 3225 Mainway for production growth and workforce expansion. This additional capacity will help meet commercial demand and significantly grow the workforce at Thordon. The company's workforce has increased by 32 percent since the end of 2023, which includes new positions in management, sales, and production across both manufacturing units.

Anna Galoni further added: "Burlington continues to provide us with a skilled workforce and strong government support, offering an excellent quality of life and serving as a central hub for our global customers." The proximity of the new plant to the main facilities also enhances collaboration between teams and maintains the close-knit family environment that our employees value.
