Mohammad Bahrami Seyfabadi, a member of the Energy Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, emphasized the importance of selecting a new Minister of Oil in light of the resignation of Mohsen Paknejad, the former Minister of Oil. He stated that special attention should be given to the sensitive conditions of the oil industry and the challenges ahead in the selection of the Minister of Oil.
The necessity of a thorough evaluation of the proposed minister's qualifications
Bahrami Seyfabadi called for a thorough evaluation by the members of Parliament of the proposed Minister of Oil's plans, executive background, and managerial capabilities. He noted that granting confidence to ministers is one of the important and legal duties of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, reminding that in this regard, merit-based selection and consideration of public interests should be prioritized.
He added: "The Ministry of Oil needs a manager who understands the industry from within and can make effective decisions in critical situations." This member of the Energy Commission listed sustainable production, the development of oil and gas fields, and attracting investment as important priorities for the Ministry of Oil.
Management of energy imbalance and the importance of effective decision-making
Bahrami Seyfabadi emphasized: "Achieving the goals of the Ministry of Oil requires decision-making power and crisis management capabilities, therefore this ministry should not be a testing ground for trial and error." He also noted that merely having specialized knowledge is not sufficient for managing this ministry, and the proposed candidate must have a thorough understanding of the oil industry structure.
He mentioned that the evaluation process of the Minister of Oil in the Energy Commission is conducted in a specialized manner, and if the commission does not approve, the confidence vote in the public session will not take place. Therefore, the role of the Energy Commission in selecting the Minister of Oil is very crucial.
Bahrami Seyfabadi further pointed out the serious responsibility of representatives in the confidence vote process, stating: "The executive background, proposed plans, and the ability to fulfill promises will be under the microscope of the Parliament."
He also emphasized that the selection of the Minister of Oil must be made with consideration of national interests and the strategic position of this industry, as the proper management of oil and gas resources and strengthening the country's production capacity depend on precise decisions and worthy selections.
