The emergency room of the Oil Hospital in Ahvaz has joined the specialized service circuit with the implementation of the reconstruction plan. Bahram Dehghan stated regarding this project: This major project was executed over an area of more than 970 square meters and took 24 months, during which the old and dilapidated structure of the emergency room was completely dismantled and rebuilt according to new plans and hospital standards.
Improving the Quality of Medical Services
Dehghan pointed out the importance of the Oil Hospital in Ahvaz in the south of the country, saying: Since its establishment in 2000, this hospital has provided pre-hospital emergency and medical services to the population covered by the oil industry and the residents of Ahvaz. Given the expanding medical needs and changing announced standards, the establishment of a new and equipped emergency center was prioritized.

He stated: Since the beginning of operations, the shortage of beds in the emergency department has been one of the problems of this center. According to standards, the number of emergency beds should be equal to 10 percent of the active beds in each hospital, while the emergency room of the Oil Hospital in Ahvaz had only 12 beds before the reconstruction.
New Emergency Equipment and Facilities
Dehghan continued: The new emergency room is equipped with 20 inpatient beds and 10 outpatient beds. Additionally, considering the need to update standards, isolation rooms for psychiatric and infectious diseases have also been included in the new structure.
Regarding the medical equipment of the new emergency center, he said: Cardiovascular monitoring equipment has been purchased and installed for the two sections of acute and monitored patients. Furthermore, two standard operating rooms and an acute patient hall have been designed and created in the new structure.
Dehghan also mentioned that given the nature of oil industry activities in the south of the country, the existence of a specialized trauma center is considered one of the important needs of the region. The emergency room of the Oil Hospital in Ahvaz, with the newly created capacities, has made it possible to provide specialized services related to trauma and chemical poisoning.
Finally, the head of health and treatment in the oil industry of Ahvaz pointed out the plans for developing medical services in the field of chemical poisoning, noting that the necessary budget for the construction of the emergency and burn center at the Oil Hospital in Ahvaz has been allocated, and its execution will begin soon.
