The Huajin Aramco refinery and petrochemical complex, a joint investment between Saudi Arabia and China in Liaoning Province, has received its first shipment of crude oil. This action is considered an important step towards the official launch of this project, known as Huajin Aramco.
Details of the Huajin Aramco Project
The Huajin Aramco facilities are located in the city of Panjin and are currently in the pre-production preparation phase. According to plans, this refinery will have the capacity to process 300,000 barrels of crude oil daily. This capacity, along with its petrochemical section that can produce 1.65 million tons of ethylene and 2 million tons of paraxylene annually, reflects the vast dimensions of this project.

Launch Timeline and Initial Needs
The launch timeline for this project, which was previously set for May or June, has been postponed to September or early October. To meet the initial needs of the complex, the state-owned China National Petroleum Corporation had reserved two million barrels of Saudi crude oil for loading in August. This action was taken to ensure the supply of the necessary raw materials for the launch of this refinery.
Given the importance of this project in strengthening economic cooperation between Saudi Arabia and China, as well as meeting China's energy needs, it seems that Huajin Aramco could bring about a transformation in the regional oil and petrochemical market. Especially considering the high processing and petrochemical production capacities, this project could serve as a successful model for future collaborations between the two countries.
