TFG Marine, a fuel supplier, has recently installed a Mass Flow Meter (MFM) system on the Storholmen bunkering vessel in the Gulf of Mexico. This vessel has been certified to the international standard ISO 22192, which relates to fuel delivery measurement with MFM. This initiative is part of TFG Marine's ongoing program to improve the accuracy and transparency of fuel quantity measurements, providing customers with greater confidence in the delivered volumes.
Details of the MFM System Installation
The Storholmen vessel is the third in the region to be equipped with this technology. Previously, TFG Marine had also equipped two other vessels named Buffalo B414 and Buffalo B304 with this system last month. Additionally, the company installed another MFM on the Kingston Trader barge at the end of last month, which will facilitate the operations of this barge in Jamaica in collaboration with its local partner, Scott Petroleum.
Plans for Global Fleet Coverage
With these installations, TFG Marine's fleet coverage has reached nearly 88%. The company anticipates that by 2026, it will equip approximately 90% of the global fuel fleet with MFMs. TFG Marine has advised port authorities and regulators to support approved MFMs and has stated that broader adoption of this technology requires support across the sector.
The implementation of this technology will enhance measurement accuracy and reduce discrepancies in delivered volumes, potentially positively impacting customer trust in the industry. Furthermore, this initiative aligns with the digitization of bunkering processes and increasing transparency in fuel transactions.
