In its recent report, SLB announced sequential growth across all regions in the third quarter of 2023. This growth was primarily driven by the gradual improvement in the Middle East, increased oil activities in North American land, and international deepwater activities. Olivier Le Peuch, CEO of SLB, stated that the company has a very positive outlook for 2027.
13% Growth in the Middle East
In the Middle East, SLB experienced a 13% growth in its activities, even amidst disruptions that occurred late in the season. This growth reflects the increasing need for production optimization and enhanced efficiency in existing oil fields. Le Peuch emphasized that clients are increasingly focusing on improving asset performance and return on investment.

Increased Demand in International Markets
Outside the Middle East, increased oil activities in U.S. land have contributed to SLB's growth. Additionally, ChampionX has achieved its highest quarterly revenue since being acquired by SLB. SLB OneSubsea has also secured several new international contracts, contributing to revenue growth and improving the revenue outlook through 2027.
SLB also noted the growth in the use of digital technologies and AI-based functionalities that help improve oil field performance. The company believes that their international outlook is strengthened by the accelerating deepwater activities in Latin America, Europe, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Asia.
Increased Activities in Venezuela
Le Peuch pointed to the increase in activities in Venezuela and predicted that, with improving activities in the Middle East, this country will also see an increase in opportunities. SLB also experienced a 23% revenue growth in another segment of its business, namely data center solutions, compared to the previous quarter. This growth was driven by high demand from clients active in AI and high-performance computing, as well as expansion into Asia.
