Seismos has inaugurated a new research facility named the Seismos Applied Acoustic Research Center in Jarrell, Texas. This center features a full flow loop that is 2,349 feet (approximately 717 meters) long, designed to advance acoustic measurement, stimulate closed wells, and optimize completion in real-time.

Facilities and Equipment of the Center

The Seismos research center, covering 87,120 square feet (about 8,090 square meters), operates as a controlled testing environment where operators, technology partners, and researchers can simulate well and pipeline conditions and develop and validate measurement technologies. This facility includes acoustic measurement systems, flow thermometers, fiber optic instrumentation, and other measurement technologies.

Focus on Stimulating Closed Wells

A primary focus of this center is advancing the stimulation of closed wells, utilizing real-time physical measurements to assess treatment performance and guide operational settings during the hydraulic fracturing pumping stage. Seismos aims to test and validate pipe and hole friction measurements, effective hydraulic diameter, flow distribution, and hole efficiency using this facility.

According to the company, its existing database includes measurements and subsurface information from hundreds of thousands of stimulation stages. The data generated at the new center will contribute to expanding this resource and support the development of artificial intelligence models and operational decision-making tools.

Open Research Platform

This center is designed as an open research platform for collaboration with oil and gas operators, technology partners, universities, and national laboratories. Research will also extend beyond upstream programs to include pipeline integrity, monitoring of critical infrastructure, and other industrial measurement technologies.

Panos Adamopoulos, founder and CEO of Seismos, stated, "Our focus remains on solving some of the challenging measurement and control issues in the upstream oil and gas industry and remaining pipelines, including continuing advancements in closed operations." The company will also research complex flow behavior, fluid dynamics, and physics-based artificial intelligence to improve measurement accuracy and expand acoustic measurement applications across various industries.
