Sable Offshore Corp. is looking to restart its Hondo platform in the California Sea by the end of 2026. This Offshore platform has undergone significant updates after completing renovations and internal startup.

Hondo Platform Update

Sable Offshore has announced that it has transformed the Hondo platform from a manually controlled platform to a modern platform with updated control and safety systems. The company expects to receive final review and approval of its startup documentation in October, with further tests and startups planned for this month.

Increase in Production Capacity

Before the restart, Sable plans to expedite four additional perforation operations on the Hondo platform. This will bring the total number of perforations to nine out of 15 production wells on the Hondo platform, whereas only five wells were previously anticipated. Each perforation operation is estimated to increase well production by an average of about 600 barrels per day, with each operation costing approximately $800,000.

Field Processing Facility Development

The company is also updating the Las Flores Canyon field processing facilities to manage the production of the Hondo platform alongside the Harmony and Heritage platforms. This facility currently processes about 80 percent of the production capacity of the Harmony and Heritage platforms. Sable expects these updates will allow Las Flores Canyon to manage the full production capacity of all three Santa Ynez Unit platforms and reduce downtime after the Hondo restart.

Separately, Sable estimates that crude oil sales in July and August averaged about 32,000 barrels per day, with September volumes expected to reach about 34,000 barrels per day. The company has faced sales restrictions from third parties since mid-August and is working with midstream and downstream partners to resolve this issue. Sable expects crude oil registrations in October to average about 38,000 barrels per day and to reach an estimated output rate of 45,000 barrels per day by the end of the month, before adding the expected volumes from the Hondo platform.
