Petrobras, the Brazilian oil and gas company, has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mozambique's National Hydrocarbons Company (ENH). This agreement aims to establish a framework for cooperation in the oil and gas sector between the two companies.

Details of the Agreement Signing

This agreement was signed by Sylvia Anjos, Petrobras' Exploration and Production Director, and Jonilton Pessoa, the company's Executive Director of Exploration. On behalf of Mozambique's National Hydrocarbons Company, Rudêncio Morais, the Chairman of the Board, and Alegria Cossa, the Director, signed the agreement. This agreement will be valid for two years, with the possibility of extension by mutual consent.

ENH's Role in Mozambique's Hydrocarbon Industry

Mozambique's National Hydrocarbons Company acts as the commercial arm of the Mozambique government in exploration, production, processing, marketing, and distribution of oil and gas. The company operates within the hydrocarbon value chain and seeks to strengthen cooperation with Petrobras in this area.

Although Petrobras and ENH did not identify specific exploration blocks, development projects, or investment commitments in this agreement, it could enhance future collaborations and identify new opportunities in Mozambique's hydrocarbon industry.

Mozambique, as one of the countries with high potential in hydrocarbon resources, has been seeking foreign investments for the development of these resources for years. Petrobras, as one of the largest players in the oil industry in Latin America, can play a significant role in developing these industries.
