Perenco UK has successfully completed the decommissioning of the subsea wells Leman South and Durango. This operation took place in the Southern North Sea and involved plugging and abandoning the wells as well as removing associated infrastructure.
Details of the Decommissioning Operation
This campaign consisted of the Leman South well number 53/02a-15Y and the Durango well number 48/21a-4z. Perenco collaborated with Petrodec, a specialist in decommissioning, for this project. The operation was carried out using Petrodec's jack-up vessel HAEVA, and according to Perenco, it was completed safely and on schedule.
New Approach in Decommissioning Projects
This campaign continues similar projects that have been carried out at the Gawain, Arthur, and Davy wells. Previous operations were also completed using the HAEVA vessel. Perenco has stated that this approach combines several complex decommissioning operations and the recovery of associated infrastructure into a single campaign, rather than relying exclusively on drilling rigs and separate offshore projects.
Perenco's Role in the Energy Industry
Jo White, CEO of Perenco UK in the Southern North Sea, stated that the Leman South and Durango operations demonstrate the company's capability to deliver complex decommissioning of subsea wells and recovery of infrastructure through a coordinated campaign approach. These types of operations are not only effective in reducing costs but also contribute to environmental preservation.
With its experience and technical expertise in executing such complex projects, Perenco has managed to maintain its position in the energy market and is recognized as a key player in the decommissioning of subsea wells.
