Parsian Gas Refinery has undertaken major repairs and technical inspections to ensure stable gas supply in the cold months of the year. Alamdār Bābāyi, the CEO of this refinery, has emphasized the importance of these repairs, focusing on the assessment of equipment and preventive programs in this regard.

Planning for Major Repairs

The major repair operations and technical inspections have been fully planned and executed at the third and fourth dehydration rows of Parsian 2 site and units 400, 500, and 800 of Parsian 1 site. These activities include evaluating the technical condition of equipment based on risk-based inspection (RBI) calculations and fitness for service (FFS). Additionally, major repairs of turbines and process compressors and the implementation of preventive maintenance programs for fixed, rotating, electrical, and instrumentation equipment are among the other actions taken at this refinery.

Preventive Strategies to Ensure Production

The CEO of Parsian Gas Refinery referred to the refinery's strategy to prevent sudden shutdowns and ensure maximum production during peak consumption days, stating that this strategy is based on the precise implementation of preventive maintenance, analysis of equipment failure records, and prioritization of critical equipment. The actions taken include performance testing of instrumentation air compressors, fire pumps, and water transfer pumps, as well as creating management dashboards for continuous monitoring of operational status.

Bābāyi also emphasized the importance of continuous monitoring of equipment and risk management, stating that these actions help in the early identification of failure signs before production line shutdowns occur. In the fixed equipment section, advanced technical inspection evaluations such as thickness measurement and fault detection of pipelines using phased array ultrasonic testing (PAUT) are employed.

He pointed out the importance of adhering to safety and HSE standards during repair operations, stating that HSE experts conduct continuous inspections and take immediate action to stop or correct work if unsafe conditions are observed. Furthermore, a comprehensive safety review is conducted before the units are commissioned.

Relying on the capabilities of domestic specialists and executing reverse engineering projects at Parsian Refinery has led to a reduction in dependence on foreign resources and accelerated the return of equipment to the production cycle. By manufacturing critical items and reducing lead times for supply, this refinery has taken effective steps in localizing equipment.
