Ownership of 76 hectares of national and private lands in the registration area of Behshahr County has been issued in the name of the National Iranian Oil Company. Davood Kermani, Head of Legal Affairs and Contracts of Khazar Oil Company, announced that this action has been taken after about 20 years to protect and stabilize the rights and properties of the National Iranian Oil Company.

Background of Land Ownership

Kermani referred to the background of these lands, stating: In 2001, coinciding with the signing of the contract for the construction of the Iran-Amirkabir semi-submersible platform and three support vessels for Caspian, Khazar Oil Company, on behalf of the National Iranian Oil Company, proceeded to acquire and own 76 hectares of national and private lands in this area. Despite the actions taken, the legal process for issuing ownership documents had been halted since 2020 for various reasons.

Revival of the Ownership Document Issuance Process

In order to implement the law mandating the official registration of real estate transactions passed in 2022 by the Islamic Consultative Assembly, the process of obtaining ownership documents for these lands has resumed over the past two years. Kermani added: Khazar Oil Company, Iranian Oil Terminals, Oil Products Distribution, Marine Industries of Iran (Sadra), and North Drilling are stationed on these lands, and finally, in August of this year, the ownership documents for the mentioned 76 hectares have been issued in the name of the National Iranian Oil Company.

Stabilizing ownership and determining the registration status of lands and facilities used by the oil industry is considered one of the important issues in protecting the properties and rights of oil companies. According to the regulations concerning the National Iranian Oil Company, this company must inquire about the registration status of the properties needed for its operations from the local registration office and pursue the legal process for acquiring and registering ownership.

With the implementation of the law mandating the official registration of real estate transactions, organizing the registration status of public and governmental real estate has also been given attention. According to Note 8 of Article 10 of this law, executive bodies are obliged to register documents and claims related to public and governmental real estate that have not yet been issued official documents in the relevant system according to the regulations.

Issuing ownership documents for lands used by oil industry companies, in addition to determining official ownership, helps stabilize the legal status of properties and protect the assets of companies.
