Omid Shakri today (Tuesday, October 6) at the signing ceremony of the Memorandums of Understanding for the Energy Pulse campaign, stated to reporters that the damages inflicted on the petrochemical industry during the past imposed war were significant. The damages were divided into two sections: utilities and some specific processes, and appropriate actions for reconstruction are being taken in both areas, with the reconstruction of utilities being continuously pursued.

Reconstruction Status in Assaluyeh and Mahshahr

Shakri added: In Assaluyeh and Mahshahr, which are the two main hubs of the country's petrochemical industry, the reconstruction and recovery of capacities are being executed satisfactorily, and we are striving to restore a significant portion of the lost capacities back to the production cycle by the end of this year.

The CEO of the National Petrochemical Company emphasized: So far, about 60 percent of the lost capacities of the petrochemical industry have been recovered and returned to the production cycle, and we hope that conditions will improve further in this regard by the end of the year.

Winter Challenges and Gas Limitations

Shakri pointed out the limitations of feedstock for the petrochemical industry in winter, saying: We will likely face gas limitations due to imbalance this winter; an issue that has existed every year and this year, due to the enemy's damages to the refining industry, the conditions have become more difficult.

He continued: Nevertheless, in terms of the amount of capacity recovery and readiness for production, the petrochemical industry is in a good condition, and we are working to achieve a better situation in this sector by the end of the year.

The CEO of the National Petrochemical Company mentioned the implementation of energy restrictions in winter, stating: Every year in winter, with the increase in gas consumption in the residential sector, unintended limitations were imposed on some industries, and the petrochemical industry is not exempt from these restrictions.

Shakri added: This year, the situation is more challenging; about 230 million cubic meters of the gas industry's refining capacity have been lost, but with the efforts of colleagues in the Ministry of Oil, the National Iranian Gas Company, and the National Iranian Oil Company, some of these capacities have returned to the production cycle, but shortages still exist.

Petrochemical Product Exports and Challenges

He said: We are trying to minimize the effects of the war and the reduction of capacities created for petrochemical complexes, but the reality is that this year will be harder for the petrochemical industry.

The CEO of the National Petrochemical Company added regarding the sale of petrochemical products: The petrochemical industry itself is the seller of the product; this industry exports its products, returns the currency obtained from exports, and the entire export process and currency return are conducted under the supervision of the Central Bank, so there is no problem in this regard.

Shakri stated that the conditions of war and siege have created challenges for the exports of the petrochemical industry, emphasizing: With the measures taken in various sectors, efforts are being made to keep the exports of this industry sustainable and ensure the return of the currency obtained from exports to meet the essential needs of various currency-consuming sectors in the country.

He referred to the Energy Consumption Reduction Campaign (Energy Pulse) stating: Today, we invite all people and consumer sectors to support this national movement to help secure more energy so that we can reduce the feedstock challenges of petrochemical complexes.

The CEO of the National Petrochemical Company emphasized: The cooperation of all consumer sectors and the reduction of energy consumption can help secure more energy for industries and consequently reduce the problems related to petrochemical feedstocks.
