Omid Shakri, at the signing ceremony of the cooperation memorandums of the "Energy Pulse" campaign, referred to the country's policy history for reducing energy consumption intensity and stated: The general policies for reforming energy consumption patterns were announced in 2010, which aimed to halve the country's energy consumption intensity by 2023 within a 10-year plan.

He noted that the figures for 2023 showed that not only has the energy consumption intensity not halved, but it has also increased by about 40%. He added: This indicates that despite the correct policymaking to reduce energy intensity in various sectors, the expected outcome has not occurred in the consumption area.

Attention to Energy Consumption Optimization in the Petrochemical Industry

Shakri emphasized that reducing energy intensity does not merely mean reducing energy consumption, explaining: Energy intensity is a fraction of energy consumption and gross domestic product; therefore, one of the main actions in this regard is optimizing and saving energy consumption in various sectors while creating more economic value with the same amount of energy.

He stated that we must be able to create more economic value in productive sectors with the same amount of energy, of which the petrochemical industry is one. He stressed: A significant portion of the country's foreign exchange earnings comes from the petrochemical industry, and when restrictions are imposed on the petrochemical industry due to high consumption in the residential and commercial sectors during the cold season, we effectively reduce the gross domestic product, which could itself be a factor in reducing energy intensity.

Increasing Gross Domestic Product through Participation in Energy Optimization

The CEO of the National Petrochemical Company stated: Success in the Energy Pulse campaign and encouraging people to join the campaign and participate in energy optimization can lead to an increase in gross domestic product and create benefits that will reach every citizen of the country.

Shakri pointed to the petrochemical industry's participation in optimizing energy consumption and said: The actions that the petrochemical industry has taken in production processes demonstrate the serious attention of industry players to the issue of energy optimization. Accordingly, the compliance of energy consumption in petrochemical industry processes with the mandatory criteria and standards of the National Standard Organization is over 75%.

The CEO of the National Petrochemical Company referred to the optimization projects implemented in the petrochemical industry over the past four years and said: The total of these projects has resulted in a savings of 1.8 billion cubic meters of gas, while the petrochemical industry is an energy consumer.

Shakri also mentioned the petrochemical industry's attention to the development of renewable energies and emphasized: Currently, 680,000 megawatts of solar power plants are being produced by petrochemical companies, and 200 megawatts will be operational by the end of this year. These actions are an example of the high understanding of petrochemical industry players regarding energy optimization.

The CEO of the National Petrochemical Company, referring to the efforts made to restore the damaged capacities of the energy industry, said: With the management of the Minister of Oil and the efforts of my colleagues in the National Oil Company and the National Gas Company of Iran, some of the lost capacities have been restored in recent months, and I hope we will soon witness the return of all lost capacities to the production cycle.

Shakri stated that the enemy's attack on the energy and petrochemical industry indicates the importance of this industry in the country's economy and means that this is the economic front. He emphasized: Today, the frontline of the economic war is the oil and petrochemical industry, and we all must help those who work in this industry to pass through these conditions with pride and victory.

He called for the participation of all people in the energy consumption optimization plan and said: By helping to optimize energy consumption, it becomes possible to allocate more energy to the industry, and ultimately its positive effect on the country's economic growth and people's lives will be observed.

Shakri emphasized the continuity of the Energy Pulse campaign, stating: This movement, which started two years ago, is one in which everyone wins, and I hope that by developing this movement, we can witness more energy consumption optimization, better energy allocation to productive sectors, and its positive economic effects.
