Neptune Group has launched the newly built ship 'Nikos Travolos' at the Fujian Mavi shipyard in China. This vessel is the second ship of the 'Genesis Project', designed and built to modernize and upgrade the strategic fleet of this group.
Details of the 'Genesis' Expansion Project
The 'Genesis' project aims to invest in high-tech vessels to respond to the evolving needs of the international automotive industry. This program helps strengthen Neptune's integrated automotive logistics services, which include maritime transport along with land and port services.
The 'Nikos Travolos' ship features a dual LNG propulsion system that can operate on both liquefied natural gas (LNG) and conventional fuels. This technology offers greater flexibility in fuel use and has the potential to reduce emissions of certain air pollutants under various operational conditions.
Environmental and Operational Goals
This investment supports the group's goals to improve the environmental and operational performance of its fleet while also increasing transport capacity. With the addition of 'Nikos Travolos' to the fleet, Neptune Group links its historic journey with its future path, continuing its investments and remaining true to its founding values, including integrity, responsibility, and a continuous effort for progress.
At the ship delivery ceremony, Melina Travolu, President of Neptune Group, was present along with representatives from partner companies and organizations from both countries. Melina Travolu said at the ceremony: "Today is a day filled with special emotions for me. It feels like I am meeting my father again. With today's delivery, his name, Nikos Travolos, will sail the seas of the world that he loved so much and served with ethics and integrity."
She also added about the symbolic details of the ship: "Now the ship's eyes also... have a mustache. Your mustache, father. And I am sure you are watching us. You are overseeing us. And today, from up there, even your mustache smiles proudly."
During the ceremony, the president thanked Neptune's partners in China, the management and staff of the Fujian Mavi shipyard, as well as all the teams that contributed to the successful construction and completion of this ship.
