Mohammad Vosali, the Director General of the Office of Stationery at the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, announced that approximately 350 million stationery products have been produced in the country over the past 6 months. Meanwhile, the annual need for these products in the country is estimated at about one and a half billion items, and currently, around one billion and 700 million items are available in warehouses.
Growth in Production and Domestic Production
Vosali referred to the growth in production and domestic production in the stationery industry and stated: The depth of domestic production in this industry has reached over 85%, and various stationery products are produced within the country. Exports and Foreign Markets
The Director General of the Office of Stationery also discussed the export of domestically produced products, stating: These products are exported to various parts of the world, and our estimate is that we can increase exports from the current approximately one and a half million dollars to 5 million dollars in the coming years. Given the high quality of the produced products, there is a market for foreign customers for these products, and the stationery industry has reached a level where it can compete with similar domestic and foreign products.
Vosali also mentioned the reduction of smuggling of stationery products and added: Currently, a significant portion of products, including pencils and pens, is produced domestically. This domestic production has managed to reduce the smuggling of these products from unofficial channels.
Promising Future of the Stationery Industry
The Director General of the Office of Stationery considered the future of the stationery industry to be promising and stated: The Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade has instructed that a strategic program for the stationery industry be developed in collaboration with the active players in this sector. The dependency of this industry on various industries, including petrochemicals and paper, as well as the emphasis on forming a special working group to expedite the import of raw materials that cannot be produced domestically, are among the other ongoing plans.
Vosali concluded by referring to the management of currency consumption in the stationery industry and acknowledged that the amount of currency consumption in this industry is still being managed, and the segments that can be supplied domestically should be localized. Efforts are also being made to expedite the process of supplying and transferring raw materials.
