Mohammad Mahdi Pir Salehi, at the press conference of the 11th International Pharmaceutical Exhibition and related industries held at the Food and Drug Organization, emphasized the serious challenges facing pharmaceutical producers, adding: the necessity of revising currency allocation policies and addressing the overdue claims of the pharmaceutical and medical equipment industry is an important program that must be considered.

Current Challenges in the Pharmaceutical Industry

He pointed to the current challenges in the health sector and emphasized the negative impacts of current currency allocation policies on the production process, stating: focusing on imports through preferential currency can slow down the production process in the domestic sector.

Management of Currency Consumption in the Pharmaceutical Industry

Pir Salehi added: the amount of currency consumption in this area should be managed in such a way that its return and impact on the final price and industrial production capacity are guaranteed. To sustain production, a balance must be created between supply costs and approved prices so that the industry does not face the problem of cost imbalances.

Pir Salehi mentioned holding meetings with parliamentary representatives to follow up on issues related to drug production and supply, stating: close supervision of the correct implementation of pricing guidelines and adherence to approved rates is on the agenda. The Planning and Budget Organization must pay closer attention to the increasing price discrepancies caused by currency fluctuations in the health sector so that this gap does not disrupt the supply of drugs for patients.

Insurance Debts and Claims of the Pharmaceutical Industry

The head of the Food and Drug Organization referred to the problem of insurance debts and the increasing claims of the pharmaceutical and medical equipment industry, stating: the amount of claims from the industrial and medical equipment sector has now reached a level that has made production and supply operations difficult for the players in this field.

He emphasized the central role of the Food and Drug Organization in ensuring people's access to medication, noting: despite financial constraints and overdue claims, the main priority is to maintain the stability of the drug supply chain and support domestic producers to prevent a crisis in the country's health.
