Mohammad Kaab-Amir, in an interview with Shana reporter, pointed out the necessity for the country to be prepared for sustainable energy supply in the upcoming winter, stating: Energy management in the cold season is not the responsibility of a single ministry; rather, it is a national issue that must be pursued with the coordination of all executive agencies, industries, power plants, and the public.
The Necessity of Coordination Among Ministries
He added: Coordination between the ministries of Oil and Power is particularly important at this juncture. If all sectors act responsibly, we can maintain the warmth of homes and the stability of the network while passing through the cold season with minimal restrictions on production and services. Therefore, fuel consumption management in winter is possible with close coordination between these two ministries.
Continuous Monitoring of the National Gas Network
The Vice Chairman of the Energy Commission of the Parliament emphasized the importance of continuous monitoring of the national gas network, stating: The National Iranian Gas Company must monitor the status of production, transmission, distribution, and gas consumption in provinces in real-time. In cold regions and provinces facing increased consumption, this monitoring must be conducted with greater sensitivity to identify and manage any pressure drops before they become serious problems.
Kaab-Amir continued: The top priority in consumption management is to maintain the stability of gas supply to the residential sector, but this should not mean disrupting the production cycle of the country. Industries and power plants should also be informed in advance about potential scenarios and have a clear plan for consumption management and the use of alternative fuels.
Use of Smart Tools
He mentioned the necessity of applying smart restrictions in high-consumption areas and added: In situations where the network is under pressure from consumption, smart tools should be used instead of uniform and blanket decisions. Managing consumption in unoccupied villas, controlling unnecessary consumption, and managing the consumption of large industries with unconventional usage can help maintain network pressure and ensure gas supply to the residential sector.
The Vice Chairman of the Energy Commission of the Parliament stated: The experience of consumption management in summer had a clear message for the upcoming winter, that with precise planning, smart management, timely decision-making, and coordination among agencies, peak consumption conditions can be managed.
