Mohammad Jafar Qaimpanah, the Executive Vice President of Iran, during a provincial visit to East Azerbaijan and in a meeting with the university community of the province, explicitly stated that the United States is seeking to control Iran's oil and gas resources. He emphasized Iran's independence, referring to the country's past history and recent threats.

America's threats against Iran's energy resources

Qaimpanah referred to previous statements by Donald Trump, which mentioned seizing Khark Island (one of Iran's largest oil islands) and controlling the country's energy resources. He described these threats as indicative of America's interventionist approach towards Iran and other countries such as Venezuela. According to Qaimpanah, the U.S. has indirectly sought to control oil resources in some Gulf countries and is now attempting to achieve this goal in Iran as well.

The history of Iran's oil and economic independence

The Executive Vice President pointed out that a large portion of the country's oil revenues, prior to the Islamic Revolution, went to foreign countries instead of being reinvested in Iran's development and progress. In his view, the U.S. could not tolerate Iran's independence during that period, leading to various tensions and crises.

Qaimpanah believes that even in the current circumstances, the United States cannot easily achieve its goals regarding the control of Iran's oil resources. He emphasized the slogan "Independence, Freedom, Islamic Republic," asserting that Iran, as an independent country, does not accept any foreign power in its affairs.

These statements come at a time when Iran is facing numerous economic sanctions and international obstacles. However, in recent years, Iran's Ministry of Oil has made significant efforts to increase the country's oil and gas production capacity, with oil fields such as the Azadegan oil field producing 300,000 barrels per day and the Yadavaran oil field producing 100,000 barrels per day as examples of these efforts.

In this context, Qaimpanah spoke of Iran's strong will to maintain its independence and utilize its natural resources, expressing hope that by continuing this trend, the country can achieve its goals in economic and energy development.
