Mohammad Ali Dehghan-Dahani, at the thirtieth National Export Day ceremony, while appreciating the presence of Masoud Pezeshkian, the President, Abbas Araghchi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Seyed Mohammad Atabak, the Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade, emphasized the necessity of supporting exporters and removing domestic obstacles.
The Role of Exporters in the Country's Economy
Dehghan-Dahani pointed out the position of exporters in the country's economy, saying: "National Export Day is not a day for stating numbers and listing actions, but a day to appreciate those who have established and maintained a connection between the domestic market and foreign customers."
He also added: "Despite the problems in transferring funds, exporters have remained committed to their obligations and have worked to sustain employment. This resilience reflects their decisive role in maintaining the flow of trade and the continuity of the country's economic activities."
Foreign Trade Trends and Export Capacities
The head of the Iran Trade Development Organization, referring to the slogan "Dynamic Trade, Value-Adding Exports," stated that this slogan serves as a criterion for assessing the performance of actors in the non-oil export sector. He evaluated the country's foreign trade performance under the conditions resulting from two wars and the subsequent environment as noteworthy. According to him, the value of the country's foreign trade is expected to reach about $52 billion in 2025, although this figure has decreased compared to the first year of the fourteenth government's activity, it still remains higher than the level of foreign trade in previous years.
The Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade also mentioned a 140% growth in the export of technical and engineering services, stating: "This performance has been achieved with the support of the President and the Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade."
Dehghan-Dahani emphasized Iran's capacities for trade development, adding: "The country possesses capabilities, knowledge, skills, and specialized human resources that can be leveraged to increase trade volume from one billion dollars a week to one billion dollars a day."
Compensating for Transportation Costs and Proposals for Exports
Dehghan-Dahani also noted the increase in transportation costs under current conditions, considering the allocation of appropriate incentives as one of the solutions to compensate for these costs, and said: "We must eliminate the obstacles in the way of trade and facilitate regulations, and develop the necessary executive capacities for the effective presence of economic actors in global markets."
He further emphasized maintaining target markets and achieving value-adding exports, stating: "Despite multiple pressures, exporters have guaranteed the sustainability of the country's trade. In this path, we must strengthen export capacities and focus on creating added value to provide a more sustainable presence for Iranian products and services in global markets."
The head of the Iran Trade Development Organization also announced the formulation of 10 proposals to facilitate the export process and expressed hope that by incorporating these proposals into the decision-making cycle, issues and obstacles to export development would be resolved more quickly.
