Masoud Pezeshkian, the President of Iran, emphasized the necessity of strengthening bilateral cooperation in the energy sector during his meeting with Syed Mohsen Naqvi, the Interior Minister of Pakistan, this afternoon (Monday, September 30). He expressed hope that interactions between Iran and Pakistan would continue with greater seriousness, referring to the significant increase in the level of relations between the two countries.
External Pressures and the Convergence of Islamic Countries
Pezeshkian stated: "We believe that U.S. pressures have created grounds for increased convergence and continuous interaction among Islamic countries." He considered the numerous consultations between Iranian and Pakistani delegations as a clear example of the convergence process between the two countries.
The Necessity of Increased Investment and Communications
He also emphasized the necessity of strengthening investments and increasing communications among various sectors of both countries, stating: "We hope that with the development of investments, expansion of communications, and facilitation of economic cooperation, we will witness a deeper relationship between Iran and Pakistan." These remarks reflect Iran's serious determination to enhance the level of economic and energy cooperation with its neighbor.
During this meeting, Syed Mohsen Naqvi, the Interior Minister of Pakistan, also expressed his pleasure at meeting with the President of Iran and emphasized the importance of upgrading the relations between the two countries. This meeting took place while both countries are seeking to expand cooperation in various fields, especially energy.
Iran and Pakistan have potential capacities in the energy sector that could lead to increased levels of cooperation. Given Iran's rich oil and gas resources and Pakistan's energy needs, bilateral cooperation could be beneficial for both countries. This issue is particularly significant in the current situation where international pressures on Islamic countries have increased.
Ultimately, this meeting and discussions could mark the beginning of positive developments in the relations between the two countries and lead to strengthened cooperation in the energy sector. In the current circumstances where the need for energy in Pakistan has increased, Iran can be a reliable partner in this regard.
