Lattice, established in April 2023, operates with the aim of developing AI-based applications in the shipbuilding, offshore, and other sectors. The company is recognized as a specialist in AI transformation (AX) and system integration (SI), providing diverse services to one of the leading shipyards in South Korea.
Challenges in the Shipbuilding Industry
Lattice's clients in the shipbuilding and offshore industries in South Korea face numerous challenges in converting design data from international clients into formats compatible with their CAD environments. In shipbuilding, not only 3D data but also model structures and production-related features must be semantically accurately transferred. PROSTEP's integration technology addresses these challenges.
OpenPDM SHIP Technology
OpenPDM SHIP not only connects heterogeneous PLM, ALM, and ERP systems but also provides standard connectors for all shipbuilding-specific CAD systems. Using these connectors, CAD data, including production-related information, can be exchanged between these systems without loss of information. The automatic conversion of this data significantly reduces the time and costs required for reconstructing design data for production.
Given these circumstances, Lattice has decided to collaborate with PROSTEP as its solution and technology partner. This collaboration will begin with a proof of concept. Sang-Wan Kang, CEO of Lattice, states: "PROSTEP is one of the leading integration specialists in the world and has numerous references in the shipbuilding and offshore sectors in Europe, America, and the Asia-Pacific region. This convinced us."
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two parties includes a long-term collaboration in which PROSTEP will provide integration technology, and Lattice will act as the local implementation and service partner. Peter Pfafflgraph, Partner Manager at PROSTEP, adds: "Our common goal is to develop business in the shipbuilding and offshore industries in South Korea using our proven integration technologies and gradually introduce more components of the PROSTEP Digital Thread platform to the South Korean market."
