J+S Subsea has initiated a new collaboration with Pulse Technology Hub based in Perth, aiming to expand its underwater controls business. This collaboration will particularly focus on exploring opportunities related to aging underwater assets and outdated infrastructure in Australia and the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.
Needs and Opportunities Analysis
J+S Subsea's analyses indicate a growing need for support for aging underwater infrastructure and high-age assets. By bringing equipment and technical capabilities closer to operators, service delivery times are improved. This approach allows local operators to respond quickly to their needs and make better use of existing equipment.
Legacy Locker Program and Its Impacts
Collaboration with Pulse Technology Hub will also aid in expanding J+S Subsea's Legacy Locker program in the region. This program focuses on recovering, revalidating, and repurposing underwater equipment that might otherwise be discarded. With this approach, operators will be able to utilize replacement components for existing infrastructure, preventing resource waste.
Phil Reid, CEO of J+S Subsea, stated, "Our previous work in Australia has shown that there is significant potential not only in Australia itself but across the APAC region." He also emphasized the importance of establishing appropriate relationships in countries to respond to the changing needs of customers in this region.
Ian Grant, CEO of Pulse Technology Hub, added that the companies have identified opportunities related to high-age marine assets in Australia and outdated infrastructure. Pulse, as a local partner, provides market knowledge and domestic support to enable J+S Subsea to expand its presence in this region.
J+S Subsea expects this expansion to support employment in both the UK and Australia. However, the exact number and timing of new jobs have yet to be determined.
