Jalil Basiri Parsa, in an interview with Shana reporter, pointed out the specific geographical conditions of Region 7 of Iran's gas transmission operations, stating: A significant portion of the gas transmission lines in this region is located in mountainous and difficult-to-access areas, and seasonal rainfall, the occurrence of runoff and flooding, and soil erosion can affect the stability and safety of the lines and facilities.

Safety Priorities in Region 7

He added: Given these conditions, identifying vulnerable points and implementing preventive and protective plans have been priorities for Region 7 of Iran's gas transmission operations, and necessary actions to reduce damages caused by natural factors are continuously being carried out.

The manager of Region 7 of Iran's gas transmission operations stated: In this framework, currently, eight safety projects are being implemented in various locations in the region with an allocation of 400 billion rials.

Protective and Preventive Measures

Basiri Parsa continued: The implementation of gabions, water features, retaining walls, and other protective structures are among the planned actions in these projects, aimed at controlling runoff, preventing soil washing and erosion, stabilizing the route of the lines, and protecting gas transmission facilities.

He emphasized: The implementation of these projects not only reduces the likelihood of damage to gas transmission lines during heavy rainfall and flooding but also plays a significant role in increasing the safety and stability of the gas transmission network in the region.

The manager of Region 7 of Iran's gas transmission operations stressed the importance of preventive measures, stating: Given the extensive network and geographical conditions of the region, continuous monitoring of the route of the lines and identifying points that require protective measures is necessary to take the required safety measures before serious damages occur.

Research Projects with an Environmental Approach

Basiri Parsa also announced the implementation of a research project with an environmental approach, stating: In this project, the possibility of using "black powder" as a supplementary material for pipelines for the production of chemical fertilizers and the absorption of heavy metals has been examined.

He explained: This project is defined with the aim of optimizing the use of materials resulting from activities related to transmission lines and reducing their environmental impacts, which can facilitate the reuse of these materials in various processes.

The manager of Region 7 of Iran's gas transmission operations added: This research project, in addition to having an environmental approach and focusing on waste management, has also succeeded in registering a patent, which demonstrates the scientific and research capacities available in this field.
